JOE is a classroom assistant tool, which allows educators to extend their reach beyond the physical boundaries of the classroom. The JOE Online Project has hosted an average of 56 classes each semester with more than 500 students since 1999 when it was fully implemented. Version 2 plans to include features found in similar solutions used by professors in the university like BlackBoard, 4Teachers, NiceNet, Manhattan Project, and the campus WebCT and overcome the limitations of all of these tools while maintaining a great level of simplicity for non-Internet savvy users, thus keeping the JOE Online spirit.
